Celebrating two successful debuts
AUT trade show appearance at the IE expo 2012 in Shanghai
On March 7th 2012, following the merger of the two trade shows IFAT China and EPTEE + CWS, the IE expo opened its gates to an excited audience of representatives of the environmental industry for the first time. Why not use this great opportunity to make one’s own debut? This is exactly what we thought and decided to participate with our own booth in a trade show within the environmental and waste management industry sector in China for the first time. Quickly we realised that, thanks to the IE expo, our first trade show appearance in China had turned into an international premiere.
According to the organiser, more than 750 companies from 25 different countries presented their products and services at the trade fair and encouraged about 24,000 visitors from different parts of the world to stop by at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Nearly 70 percent of all visitors were interested professionals and citizens from China, which were supported by their counterparts from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, Turkey and Germany. Due to the importance of the trade show far beyond the country’s borders, we managed to not only meet professionals from China but also had an opportunity to introduce our system solutions to companies from countries like India, Singapore and Mongolia.
Our verdict: This was an excellent debut which will be followed by further international appearances.

WThis year will see the IE expo (formerly known as IFAT China) taking place in Shanghai from March 7th until 9th. As in the previous years, the international trade show for water, sewage, waste, recycling and renewable energies is expected to welcome numerous visitors from the industry at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The SNIEC provides an exhibition area of 45,000 m² which most certainly offers enough space for the approximately 1000 exhibitors from different parts of the world to introduce and represent their environmental products and services. This year the company AUT Anlagen- und Umwelttechnologie GmbH is going to be one of the exhibitors. If you have planned to travel to China in order to visit the IE expo 2012 or you happen to be in Shanghai at the time of the trade fair, do visit our booth. We’re looking forward to meeting you there!

Whether this may be a double espresso used to fight tiredness, a double chocolate chip cookie as a treat or a double-decker bus used to accommodate increased passenger numbers, there a specific situations or problems which require a solution that comes in a double package. That this theory is very much transferable to the waste management and recycling industry, is underpinned by the new and innovative shredding device developed by AUT Anlagen- und Umwelttechnologie GmbH. The Double Cross Flow Shredder ZQ is the perfect technological solution for every business in the industry that does not wish to settle for the single standard anymore and that is primarily concerned with the cost-efficiency, profitability and performance of its treatment plants. It is time to progress and start seeing double.
One of the first assignments of the new Double Cross Flow Shredder ZQ is going to be the processing of scrap from mechanical-biological treatment plants (MBT). In this regard, a great advantage of the shredding device is the way it is technologically designed and its mode of operation, which are simple, but very clever. During the early development stage of the ZQ, the design and performance of two Cross Flow Shredders (CFS) provided the basis for the new shredding device. This means, the amount of input that used to be processed by two individual CFS can now be handled with the help of just one device without the need to acquire additional conveying and sorting equipment. Thanks to its specific construction, the process space has increased (i.e. doubled) in such a way as to enable all input particles to be captured by the shredding tools located in the two processing chambers. Moreover, due to the patent-registered screen discharge on the shredder wall, the material is continuously released from the device, ensuring a continuous treatment process. Therefore, the shredding device is perfectly suited to shred both bulky material parts and large material quantities. This is certainly one of the many reasons, why our customer – a waste management company situated near Luneburg – decided that the most viable solution for his application, i.e. the treatment of MBT scrap, would be our ZQ.
From February 2012, the 32 tons heavyweight ZQ is going to the join two existing Cross Flow Shredders which have already been efficiently shredding material for the past couple of years on our customer’s site. The ZQ is an essential addition which will serve to accommodate the increased material flow our customer experiences. Since scrap from MBT plants primarily consists of ferrous and non-ferrous metal fractions which can contain highly valuable types of metal such as copper and brass, it is incredibly important to have access to the right technology which systematically processes the material and guarantees the recovery of these valuable resources. In this connection, it is crucial to optimally prepare the charging material during the treatment inside the shredder for subsequent sorting processes. By means of the ZQ, material compounds are broken and grinded down to a pre-defined grit size. The method of comminution is based on the principle of the AUT Cross Flow Shredder, which makes use of the force of impact generated by one rotating chain or, in the case of the ZQ, by several chains moving in opposite directions. This means, the compound break-up inside the Double Cross Flow Shredder ZQ happens, due to the force of impact not only between the input materials as they are smashed together but also as the input materials clash with the wear-proof ridges placed between the two processing rooms.
The processing time can be flexibly adjusted and can be determined by the type of input material fed into the machine and by the degree of comminution, respectively the desired material break-up. Depending on the charging material and the shape of the discharge screens, up to 15 tonnes of material can be treated inside the ZQ every hour. This is just like enjoying a double espresso and a double chocolate chip cookie at the same time.
